PALO ALTO, Calif.-Corsair Communications Inc. installed its PhonePrint cellular fraud prevention system in Celulares Telefonica’s Puerto Rico network. Corsair said the radio frequency fingerprinting system was installed throughout the island during December and January.
Corsair executives noted the deployment is one of the first outside the continental United States.
Celulares Telefonica has more than 350,000 customers in Puerto Rico. It is a department of Puerto Rico Telephone Co. and provides cellular, paging and personal communications services.
Report notes boom in antenna market
OYSTER BAY, N.Y.- Nearly 35,000 cell sites will be sold worldwide next year, according to Allied Business Intelligence Inc.
In its report, “Wireless Antenna Markets: Global Technologies & Strategies for Voice & Data Communications,” Allied said personal communications services also will have a significant impact on the antenna market because it takes up to six times as many antennas to build out a PCS network as it does to build out a cellular network.
Motorola adds jobs at English facility
SWINDON, England-Motorola Inc.’s Cellular Infrastructure Group added 300 jobs at its Swindon-based mobile communications manufacturing facility.
An increase in sales orders within the Global System for Mobile communications products division brought about a 20 percent expansion in the division’s work force.
