ERICSSON NETWORK USED IN ROMANIA

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson has signed a three-year agreement with a Romanian operator to deliver equipment and build a nationwide cellular network.

MobiFon is a joint venture between TIWC of Canada and AirTouch Communications Inc. of California, and five local partners: Posta Romania, Logic Telecom, Ana Electronics, ISAF, and the Romanian Investment Fund.

The system will be based on Global System for Mobile communications technology.

The initial phase of the network will begin operating next month. Value of the first phase, which includes four-month delivery and installation, is more than $15 million.
