CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J.-Omnipoint Communications Inc. signed international roaming agreements with 26 Global System for Mobile communications carriers, mainly in Europe and the Pacific Rim.
The agreements cover the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Greece, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Australia, Gibraltar, South Africa, Hong Kong and Estonia.
Omnipoint said it expects roaming to be operational in these markets by the fourth quarter. The company recently signed and activated an international roaming agreement with Swiss Telecom.
