WORLDWIDE WIRELESS TRIALING B-CDMA

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.-InterDigital Communications Corp. signed a letter of intent with Worldwide Wireless Inc. to trial its TrueLink broadband Code Division Multiple Access wireless local loop product in Worldwide Wireless’ service territory.

Worldwide Wireless holds licenses covering portions of Vermont, New York and New Hampshire, the companies said. InterDigital said its B-CDMA product offers data transmission at ISDN speeds for voice, fax and multimedia services including video.

“The long term potential for this technology is significant,” said Bill Doyle, president of InterDigital. “In developing countries, the demand for basic phone service and for additional communications services is exploding.

“Conservative market analysts estimate the global market for wireless local loop services at $100 billion to $200 billion. At the same time, in developed nations like the United States, the demand for the broad range of services which B-CDMA offers is quite large,” he added.
