MOTOROLA SIGNS DEAL FOR CHINESE TACS

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc.’s Asia Pacific Cellular Infrastructure Group agreed to supply Total Access Communications System equipment and services to Eastern Communications Company Ltd. of China and Zhejiang Technical Import and Export Corp. Motorola values the agreement at $200 million.

Motorola’s relationship with Eastcom and ZTEIC dates back to 1991 when the companies entered licensing and joint venture agreements to manufacture, distribute and provide service for Motorola’s cellular infrastructure products in China.

Eastcom is one of China’s largest mobile communications product manufacturers and suppliers. ZTIEC is a state-owned company that facilitates high technology import and export agreements for companies and factories in the Zhejiang province.
