STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson said it received an order from Russia’s Vimpel Communications for equipment to expand the operator’s Digital-Advanced Mobile Phone Service network.
Ericsson values the contract at $54 million.
The seventh expansion of the VimpelCom network will allow the operator to provide service in regions adjacent to Moscow.
The company said it has more than 65,000 subscribers on its Moscow network.
Ericsson will supply and install RBS 884 radio base stations and AXE 10 mobile switches. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in August.
