NEC America Inc. in June will demonstrate its total network solution for utility network applications at the Utilities Telecommunications Council national convention in Portland, Ore. The demonstration will include four interoperable network products-NEC’s 2000 and 2600 series digital microwave radios, IMT-150 Sonet multiplexer and 21GTX fault management system.
Tellabs Operations Inc. has introduced a new program-Tellabs Select Solutions. The program combines product and service offerings along with professional planning, network design, project management and consulting services; hardware and software installation services; training services; and financing options. This consultive approach is designed to give service providers the range of options they need to develop flexible, scalable, customized solutions that can be turned up quickly.
Motorola Inc. said attendees at its paging customer conference, “Get Connected!” 1997, in Dallas indicated paging has a strong future in the United States. “In the past 12 months we have witnessed a tremendous leap forward in market opportunities for advanced one-way, two-way and voice paging,” said Len deBarros, corporate vice president and general manager of Motorola’s Advanced Messaging Systems Group.
Comsat Corp. said the Federal Communications Commission dismissed a complaint brought against it by PanAmSat Corp. in February 1996. The complaint charged Comsat World Systems offered tariff rates on bulk transponders for the Commercial Satellite Communications Initiative program that were below the company’s costs. The complaint said the action had predatory intent to foreclose competition. PanAmSat’s complaint further charged Comsat World Systems with offering special tariff rates for government use without offering other customers the same tariff rates for similar services. “PanAmSat failed to prove any of the allegations in their complaint,” said Warren Zeger, Comsat’s vice president and general counsel. “The FCC determined that there was no evidence to support a predatory pricing scheme on any level.
Three L.M. Ericsson executives will participate in sessions at Supercomm ’97. Richard Hayter, director of the SuperCordless product line, will join a panel discussion on “The Implementation Challenges of PCS” along with Ghanshyam Patel, chairman and chief executive officer of SuperCordless’ customer ComScape. Hayter and Patel will discuss ComScape’s implementation of a SuperCordless system on June 2 from 10: 30 a.m to noon. Carrie Harris, senior manager, TMS Solutions, will participate in a panel “Winning in Highly Competitive Markets” June 3 from 9: 00 to 10: 30 a.m. Fredrik Winterlind, business line manager, services, will chair a panel on “Managing Private and Enterprise Network Architectures” June 4 from 9: 15 to 10: 45 a.m.
