MOTOROLA BREAKS GROUND ON ITS NEW UK FACILITY

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc.’s Cellular Infrastructure Group broke ground on its manufacturing headquarters in Swindon, United Kingdom, announced the company.

The $116 million facility will be dedicated to researching, developing and manufacturing equipment based on Global System for Mobile communications 900 MHz, Digital Cellular System 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz digital cellular technologies. It also will serve as the base for Motorola’s investment in the third-generation universal mobile telephone system.

The first phase of development includes 315,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space. The facility is designed to allow future expansion up to 1 million square feet.
