STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson and Wuhan Research Institute established a joint venture company in China to develop, manufacture and market synchronous digital hierarchy transport network systems for the Chinese market. Production will begin in September.
Functions of Wuhan Yangtze Ericsson Telecommunications Company Ltd. will include marketing, sales, implementation, service solutions and design of locally adapted SDH network solutions for the Chinese market.
In the long term, the company may expand its business scope to include other products for multimedia networks, said Ericsson. The company expects to employ 200 people by 1999.
