WASHINGTON-The Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association announced Philips Consumer Communications’ Trapeze Global System for Mobile communications 1900 MHz wireless mobile phone has been certified by the association.
Philips’ Trapeze, model TCD-718, was granted CTIA certification based on its successful compliance with stringent criteria, said CTIA. According to CTIA Certification Program Manager Tim Jeffries, evaluation criteria included intensive laboratory evaluation similar to methods used in Europe, where GSM is the primary technology used for wireless telephony.
The CTIA certification program was established in 1991 at the request of American wireless carriers. The program evaluates equipment submitted for certification through unbiased testing procedures, said CTIA.
