SAVANNAH, Ga.-Powertel Inc. has begun offering personal communications services in Savannah, Ga.
The carrier said it now provides commercial PCS in 20 metropolitan areas throughout its 12-state license region. Powertel’s network covers about 6.6 million people. The company plans to start service on Hilton Head island, S.C., in three weeks.
“With the launch of Savannah and Hilton Head, Powertel will have expanded its coverage into very important parts of Georgia and South Carolina,” said Powertel exectuve and general manager Walt Pettiss.
