CHICAGO-Aerial Communications Inc. is trying to lure potential Ohio customers to its personal communications services network as they ponder over pork chops and compare fat content on nutritional labels.
Exploring new retail channels, Aerial has teamed up with several Big Bear grocery stores in Ohio to provide free local wireless calls to customers while they shop.
The PCS provider, which launched service in the Columbus major trading area earlier this year, exchanges PCS phones for customers’ drivers licenses, and those people can use the phones while they are in the stores.
Aerial plans to run the trial for six months, then discuss results with grocery store representatives to determine if the service will be permanent.
