MONTVALE, N.J.-The New Jersey Department of Transportation plans to use two software programs provided by Geotek Communications Inc. to assist stranded motorists more quickly and effectively.
By using the Geotek network, the New Jersey Department of Transportation will have the capability to monitor the location of its emergency service patrol vehicles for faster and better service to its residents and people traveling on New Jersey highways, Geotek said.
The Automatic Vehicle Location software displays specific vehicle location with street-level accuracy, and allows fleet managers to use the “find address” feature to identify the location of drivers and dispatch directions.
Geotek’s Voice Manager software enables instant communications with one or all members of a fleet simultaneously, while a centralized communications center records and keeps track of all incoming dispatches and information.
“Knowing that New Jersey DOT vehicles are using our technology should offer an increased sense of well-being to motorists. Should a driver encounter any vehicle or other difficulties, help can now be just minutes away,” Michael McCoy, president of Geotek USA, said.
