UNIDEN LAUNCHES NEW CDPD DEVICE

SAN DIEGO-Mobile computer users now will be able to retrieve e-mail, connect to the Internet, send faxes and stay in touch while out of the office using the Uniden Data 2000.

The wireless communications modem uses Cellular Digital Packet Data technology, which overlays existing analog cellular phone systems. The Uniden Data 2000 supports Windows 95, CE, and NT operating systems, and has a removable antenna and a 3.3- or 5-volt power option. It is self-contained and does not require power from the laptop for extended periods of operation.

“We understand the need to have access to information and resources at all times and the Uniden Data 2000 makes it easier than ever to stay connected while away from the office or home,” said Dr. Shuzo Kato, Uniden Corp. president.
