DULLES, Va.-Orbcomm Global L.P. now covers the entire South American continent after signing a service license agreement with Damos SudAmerica S.A.
Orbcomm, a provider of global low-earth-orbit satellite data and messaging communications services, plans to deliver services to Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru.
Each of the seven countries covered by the agreement will have a national service provider with an exclusive license to market Orbcomm services in that country.
Damos-a joint venture of Telespazio, the space technology and services unit of Italy’s Telecom Italia, and BGH Communicaciones of Argentina-said it expects to announce additional corporate partners for Brazil and Chile in the near future.
