GREENSBORO, N.C.-Vanguard Cellular Systems Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire all of the assets of NationPage for $28.1 million cash.
NationPage is a regional paging provider with operations primarily in Pennsylvania and upstate New York. The company estimates it will provide service to more than 70,000 subscribers and report revenues of about $10 million at the end of the year. “Vanguard has been reselling paging services to its Pennsylvania cellular customers since the third quarter of 1996,” said Stephen R. Leelou, president and co-chief executive officer.
“Unlike large urban markets, which generally have a number of paging companies offering service, we found a lack of facilities-based paging competitors in our primary service areas in Pennsylvania.”
