CABLE & WIRELESS STARTS UP IN PANAMA

LONDON-Cable & Wireless Panama announced it has launched Panama’s first competitive cellular service, eight months after successfully bidding for a 49-percent stake in Intel, when the company was privatized in May 1997. The service initially will cover the cities of Panama and Colon, said Cable & Wireless. The company expects to expand coverage nationwide by the end of the year.
