HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.-Microwave Power Devices Inc. announced it won a $900,000 order to supply Qualcomm Inc. with amplifiers for its Code Division Multiple Access cellular communications system base stations.
The company expects the base stations to be used to upgrade existing cellular infrastructure from analog to digital and to support wireless local loop applications worldwide.
The order brings Microwave Power’s total backlog of orders to about $84 million, about half of which are commercial and half military. A faster turnover in Microwave Power’s commercial wireless business will allow immediate shipments of Qualcomm’s order, which is expected to be completed during the first quarter, said the company.
