ERICSSON CREATES INTERNET DIVISION

RICHARDSON, Texas- Ericsson Inc. has created the Network Solutions division to develop products, solutions and services for the Internet, and has named Jan-Anders Dalenstam its executive vice president and general manager. Howard “Skip” Speaks was promoted to Dalenstam’s former position as executive vice president and general manager of Ericsson Inc.’s Wireless Communications Division.

The new Network Solutions Division will include data communications and access networks, optical networking providing high-bandwidth Digital Wave Division Multiplexing transport solutions, wireless local loop, local multipoint distribution service and integration and operations services.

Dalenstam has held a variety of high-level management positions throughout his career with Ericsson. He was involved in marketing transmission products and cellular systems to Latin America and has been in charge of worldwide marketing for cellular systems. He had been the head of the Wireless Communications Division since 1994.

As the new executive vice president and general manager of Ericsson’s wireless division, Speaks will be responsible for the leadership and management of Ericsson’s cellular and personal communications services operations in the United States. Speaks was most recently president of business operations, Western region, with the company’s Wireless Communications Division. Speaks joined Ericsson in 1986 as manager of project implementation for the Radio Systems business.
