COLUMBIA, Md.-Tecore Inc. announced plans to introduce its multiprotocol platform designed for smaller and rural networks at the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association Wireless ’98 convention in Atlanta this week.
The AirCore switching platform has the capability to simultaneously interface between Global System for Mobile communications, Code Division Multiple Access, Time Division Multiple Access and Advanced Mobile Phone Service technologies. The scalable switch is cost-effective with as few as 500 subscribers and can grow to support up to tens of thousands of subscribers, said Tecore.
“For many smaller and rural operators, their potential subscriber base is a fairly stable, finite number,” said Jay Salkini, president and chief executive officer of Tecore. “So if these operators are looking to increase network profitability, they must focus on roaming revenues.”
