Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. announced at the Wireless ’98 show in the United States in February it is developing a Secure Algorithm for Remote Activation (SARA) solution that will give carriers the capability to control customer churn by providing inventory control and pager authorization. With wireless inventory tracking, customers will not be able to automatically reprogram pagers or switch paging carriers unless they request the change, said Samsung. The technology was developed in cooperation with RSA Data Security Inc. and uses RSA encryption and authentication technologies.
