STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson’s Global System for Mobile communications-based cordless telephone system now allows subscribers to use their GSM mobile phones on the fixed public network, the company announced.
CTS offers two types of service. The Personal Phone service allows subscribers to be reached on a single number wherever they are. When a subscriber is in the cordless coverage area, the network routes calls via the fixed public network, and when a subscriber is out of the cordless coverage area or the fixed line is busy, the calls are routed via the GSM network.
The second type of CTS service, GSM Cordless service, enables a subscriber to make and receive calls via the fixed public network or GSM networks using the same mobile phone while maintaining separate numbers for the fixed and mobile services.
