KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.-InterDigital Communications Corp. said it received orders for UltraPhone wireless local loop systems from Telecom Namibia, Vietnam PJT, Kenya KPTC and Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications. The company cumulatively values the deals at $1.3 million.
InterDigital said several of the orders resulted from the relationships with its alliance partners, Samsung Electronics and Siemens AG.
Telecom Namibia is evaluating wireless telephony as an alternative to copper infrastructure, InterDigital said. A government mandate requires Telecom Namibia to respond to requests for telecommunications service within 24 hours. As such, the company needs to deploy infrastructure rapidly in anticipation of subscriber growth, said InterDigital.
Myanmar purchased an upgrade to an existing rural system. The order was placed to meet immediate needs in one location, said InterDigital, and is separate from a large contract it signed with Myanmar last year.
Both Vietnam PJT and KPTC in Kenya have selected UltraPhone for field trials, said InterDigital.
