CINCINNATI BELL EXPECTS EARNINGS TO INCREASE

Cincinnati Bell Inc. said it expects first-quarter earnings to be in the range of 35 to 36 cents per share, compared with 35 cents per share for the first quarter of 1997.

That figure excludes an acquisition-related charge for in-process research and development related to the acquisition of AT&T Solutions Customer Care, or Transtech. The charge is expected to be between 15 cents and 22 cents per share.

The company is scheduled to release its first-quarter results April 27.

First-quarter revenues are expected to be about $510 million, a 19-percent increase from first-quarter revenues of $430 million last year.
