Rogers

Rogers Corp. introduced thin versions of its Poron urethane foam designed for making thin gaskets and pads used in pagers, personal organizers, cellular phones and global positioning systems. The Poron 4701-50 materials are cast in thicknesses down to 0.017 inch (0.43 mm), which produces a more attractive finish on both sides than microgrounding. The thin cast materials retain resistance to compression set and provide a long-lasting compressive seal. The materials are low outgassing and meet stringent anti-fogging criteria. Commercial Satellite Systems

The Satlink B2 Transportable Inmarsat B Terminal that provides portable voice and data communications anywhere in the world now is available from Commercial Satellite Systems. The suitcase-sized terminals enable a data rate of 9600 bits per seconds, or 56/64 kilobits per second. The data rate allows users to directly access the Internet and send FTP file transfers. Additional applications include direct computer to computer file transfers and desktop video teleconferencing for distance learning, telemedicine or other requirements. The terminal operates from a wide range of input voltages and over a wide operating temperature range. (716) 425-0760.

TeleProcessing Products

When TeleProcessing implemented its Opera Cell series of fully scalable Integrated Access Devices at more than 150 Bell Atlantic Mobile cell sites, the carrier experienced significant space, labor and cost savings by replacing multiple single-function devices. All models in the series are single-platform turnkey solutions that connect the various cell site analog and digital applications to the wireline T1 backbone at the mobile telephone switching office. The Opera Cell services supports cost-effective migration for analog and digital cellular networks by providing access to wireless voice and data applications, radio-frequency security and plain old telephone service, as well as an end-to-end fault-tolerant path for uninterrupted site operations. The series offers an optional 32-kilobit-per-second adaptive differential pulse code modulation compression capability that doubles voice-handling capacity of the cell site T1 circuits. This allows cellular carriers to choose from multiple templates that support a mix of compressed voice and uncompressed data traffic configurations at the cell site. The Opera Cell series includes the Cell 1000, supporting a single T1 circuit; the Cell 2000, supporting a single T1 circuit plus ADPCM compression; and the Cell 3000, supporting dual T1 circuits plus ADPCM. List prices are less than $10,000. All Cell series models include dual power supplies, an integral management modem, front-panel control port and terminal interfaces that provide V.35, RS-530 and RS-232 interfaces. (805) 522-8147.

Andrew Corp.

Andrew Corp. introduced the ValuLine High performance Low Profile antennas for cellular, personal communications services and private user networks. Andrew has reduced the antenna profile to decrease windloading on towers and support structures and minimize visual impact. VHLP can be customized for direct integration with original equipment manufacturer radio systems. The antennas are fabricated from aluminum with galvanized mount components and stainless steel hardware, and can be painted to match the surroundings of the installation. Andrew also recently increased the warranty on its entire range of Earth Station Antennas from one year to three years, which are available in a wide range of sizes for applications such as corporate networks, independent broadcast, broadcast network distribution, satellite carrier services, state and local governments, international communications and distance learning. (800) 255-1479, ext. 351, (#10070B).

Allen Telecom

The new 2-channel EAC-850 Code Division Multiple Access repeater has received Federal Communications Commission type acceptance. The repeater is designed to enhance coverage in focused areas such as tunnels, indoor settings, dense urban sites and sports stadiums. The EAC-850 can be utilized for adding coverage in CDMA buildouts over and existing analog system, or as a driver to in-building coverage systems. The repeater features SAW filtering and automatic gain control. It can be remotely operated through a wireline modem for setting the channel or frequency, turning the radio-frequency path on or off, setting the gain, alarm thresholds or status. (404) 349-8400.

Ameritec

Ameritec introduced its Interim Standard 41B and C, Signaling System 7 and Integrated Services Digital Network handheld protocol analyzer caller, the AM841 Digital Network Analyzer, which also is available for international operations using E1 circuits. The analyzers support one signaling link from each of two PCM circuits. The AM-841/841e maintains comprehensive real-time statistics from Layer 1 through Layer 7 including such areas as basic PCM health, messaging traffic load, SS7 message counts, SCCP and TCAP reject and return error causes and IS-41 message counts. Each unit has multiple filters to select messages to be stored in the dual Trace Buffers, which can be displayed or output in both the fully decoded English language format and a text format. The analyzers provide full message analysis services for ISDN PRI. Each unit supports the Bellcore, ITU-T and China versions of SS7 TUP and ISUP and IS-41B and C. The analyzers cost less than $10,000 in single quantities, and delivery time is six to eight weeks. (626) 915-5441.
