NOKIA’S TETRA PRODUCTS TO USE INTEK TECHNOLOGY

PRINCETON, New Jersey, United States-United States-based Intek Global Corp. announced its Linear Modulation Technology subsidiary entered into a five-year technology, development and supply agreement from Nokia Telecommunications, a unit of Nokia Corp.

Linear Modulation (LM) technology is a patented narrowband technology that can overlay digital and analog radio transmissions to provide up to a sixfold increase in wireless system capacity.

Nokia plans to incorporate components of LM technology into its TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) product lines, said Intek. TETRA is the European standard for digital professional mobile radio.

“Nokia evaluated technologies offered by several other companies before choosing LM,” said Robert Shiver, chairman and chief executive officer of Intek.

“During the past year, both Nokia and Intek Global’s technical groups have been diligently working together on the development of spectrum-efficient products and services, aimed at the multi-billion-dollar TETRA market for public-safety and private wireless networks.”
