HRIBAR LEAVES AMERITECH FOR INTERNET COMPANY

DENVER-The top man of Ameritech Corp.’s cellular and paging services unit is leaving the company to become president and chief operating officer of Verio Inc., a small Internet service provider in Colorado that recently went public.

Herbert Hribar, 46, is the first upper management member at Ameritech to announce his departure since SBC Communications Inc. began the process of acquiring the company last month. His new appointment will be effective July 6. Hribar has been president of Ameritech Cellular Services for about a year. Under his leadership, the cellular and paging unit became one of the more profitable wireless interests of regional Bell companies, leading the industry in customer base and revenue growth last year.

Walt Catlow, currently president of Ameritech International, will replace Hribar. Tim Cawley, president of European Operations at Ameritech International, will fill Catlow’s vacated position.

“As one of the key architects of Ameritech Cellular’s phenomenal success, Herb has shown proven leadership in the telecommunications services arena,” said Justin L. Jaschke, chief executive officer of Verio. “Herb’s 15 years of big-league technology and telecommunications management experience have given him the strong operating and marketing skills to lead Verio’s continuing, proactive efforts to accelerate the integration of our operations, capture operating efficiencies and drive rapid internal growth.”
