CTIA FOUNDATION
The Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association Foundation for Wireless Telecommunications announced Stan Hamm, group president of mobile systems for BellSouth Personal Communications, is the new chairman of its board of directors. Other new board officers include Vice Chairman Matthew J. Desch, president of wireless networks for Northern Telecom Inc. and Treasurer Richard P. Ekstrand, president & chief executive officer for Rural Cellular Corp.
IMTA
The International Mobile Telecommunications Association in June elected industry representatives to serve on its board of directors until March 31. Barbara Vonderheid, vice president of business development for Centennial Communications Corp., is the new chair. Yves Marois, of Telesystem International Wireless, was elected vice chair. Chuck Bolash, director of international sales for Uniden America Corp., is the new secretary. Jim Osborn, vice president and general manager of Motorola Inc., returned as treasurer. Jonathan Bettsak, president and founder of IMTA Panama, also was elected to the executive committee.
GeoTrans Wireless
GeoTrans Wireless recently named John Watson director of marketing. Watson will be responsible for geographic information services and radio-frequency engineering for emerging technologies in both domestic and international markets. Prior to joining GeoTrans, Watson served as marketing manager for CORD Communications.
Daniels & Associates
Daniels & Associates, a media and telecommunications investment bank, announced that Hank Goldstein has joined its team as managing director, International. Goldstein previously was an executive director with Asia Link Holding Ltd., the telecom holding company for Hong Kong conglomerate First Pacific Co. Goldstein joins Fred Vierra, who recently returned to the company to help expand its international group.Vierra most recently was vice chairman and chief executive officer of Tele-Communications International, where he will continue to serve as vice chairman of the board of directors.
