DALLAS-NEC America Inc. announced it selected Preferred Paging and Wireless as a mail-order supplier for the Beacon Data Pager, a wireless personal digital assistant with full alphanumeric messaging capabilities.
The FLEX-based PDA uses infrared technology and software from Microsoft Corp. to transfer data from desktop or laptop computers to the device, or between two Beacon Data Pagers.
The pager’s features include a large 8-line by 21-character display screen and 128 Kb memory. The Beacon Data Pager package includes the device, matching holster, batteries and an infrared adapter.
