SEATTLE AND BELLEVUE, Wash.-Lucent Technologies Inc. committed to provide $25 million in financing to Advanced Radio Telecom, subject to certain conditions, to fund the buildout of networks in Portland, Ore., Seattle and Phoenix.
ART is testing its asynchronous transfer mode broadband data network and providing service to a number of beta customers in Bellevue, Wash. Commercial service in Seattle now is scheduled to launch ahead of the original mid-October time frame.
With Lucent as its network integrator, ART is building Internet Protocol networks in metropolitan areas to provide the business community with Internet access services, Intranets, extranets, IP Telephony and enhanced Internet applications.
