Omnipoint Communications Inc. introduced its Option Snap-On terminal adapter that connects a 3Com Corp. personal digital assistant to a digital data-ready Global System for Mobile communications phone, allowing users to browse the Internet and send and receive e-mail. Selling for about $200, the Snap-On package is available for the Ericsson 388 and 788 handsets, while adapters for Siemens’ S12 and Bosch World’s 718 are expected to be available later this year. Motorola
Motorola Inc.’s Platform Software Division introduced the Productivity Software Suite and the Entertainment Pack for its PageWriter 2000 two-way pager, which includes add-on software applications. The Productivity Software Suite allows for enhanced personal information management applications, such as a calendar, scheduler, to-do manager and note pad, while the Entertainment Pack contains various games that can be played on the pager. Western Multiplex
Glenayre Western Multiplex, a subsidiary of Glenayre Technologies Inc., announced it expanded its line of digital spread-spectrum radios with fractional data capacity and user-selectable data rates. Its two latest radios are the LYNX.mini2 and the LYNX.sc6 4xE1. The mini.2 is for operators that don’t need great capacity but require multiple spread-spectrum features, while the sc6 4xE1 is Glenayre Western Multiplex’s highest-capacity spread-spectrum radio ever, the company said. Antx Inc. introduced its ADAS DiaLog alarm-monitoring and notification system, which can phone or page up to 16 different numbers for one or a series of alarm conditions.
