PALO ALTO, Calif.-Corsair Communications Inc. said it is developing a network-based wireless location system called PhoneTrack using elements of time difference of arrival and angle of arrival technologies.
The system initially is being designed to locate wireless emergency calls from Advanced Mobile Phone Service and Time Division Multiple Access networks, with later migration to other digital protocols, Corsair said.
Corsair began developing the system early last year and is conducting field trials of the system with a major U.S. cellular carrier, the company said. PhoneTrack is expected to be commercially available next year.
