AirNet Communications Corp. announced it has received a $17 million contract to supply personal communications services wireless infrastructure equipment and services to Message Express Co., owner of two Michigan basic trading areas. The contract calls for AirNet to provide a complete Global System for Mobile communications base station subsystem, including almost 200 cell sites. Some cell sites will be fitted with AirNet’s high-capacity broadband base transceiver stations while the remaining sites will be configured with AirSite backhaul-free base stations.

Glenayre Technologies Inc. has introduced the latest addition to its T8000 series of high-speed paging transmitters, the GL-T8411E, which operates in the VHF band and is designed specifically to meet requirements of the European market, the company said. The transmitter supports all popular European paging protocols, including POCSAG, FLEX and ERMES, as well as ReFLEX 25. Glenayre said Vodafone Paging Ltd. of England is the first paging carrier to adopt the GL-T8411E, preparing to install more than 400 units throughout its nationwide paging network.

KSI Inc. closed a fully subscribed private offering of equity raising $6.5 million in capital. Participating investors include New York investment bank Allen & Co. Inc., telecom venture capital group Cordoba Capital L.L.C. and Japanese trading company Marubeni Corp. KSI said it plans use the proceeds to further develop and field-test interfaces for the TeleSentinel system with digital cellular standards, including Time Division Multiple Access, Code Division Multiple Access, Global System for Mobile communications and integrated Digital Enhanced Network. Coastal Private Placements Inc. was the placement agent.
