MCLEAN, Va.-Nextel Communications Inc. began offering Motorola Inc.’s palm-sized integrated digital handset called the i1000.
The fourth-generation integrated Digital Enhanced Network handset is designed to provide business professionals with multiple communications services in a single device. The phone is a clam-shell design with external buttons and a see-through window, allowing the user to see the full-graphic display.
Users can answer or make phone calls using the speaker-phone function when the unit is opened or closed.
Southern Co., an electricity company based in Atlanta offering iDEN service in the Southeast, said it is offering the i1000 handset as well.
Clearnet Communications Inc. of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, introduced the Mike i1000 to its Mike Direct Connect customers.
The standard Mike i1000 retails for $300 and includes the phone, a charger and a carrying holster with a belt clip.
