BUENOS AIRES-Lucent Technologies Inc. signed a $52.5 million contract with CTI Movil of Argentina to provide equipment, services and software for another expansion of CTI Movil’s Advanced Mobile Phone Services network.
Under CTI Movil’s “Millennium Project,” as the expansion has been dubbed, Lucent will install its Series II and Series IIm cell sites, two mobile switching centers, a 5ESS digital switch in Mar del Plata, network management and billing systems in Mendoza and Tucuman and power products for all the systems, said Lucent.
The system originally was designed and installed by Lucent. A previous expansion, termed “El Nino” was completed earlier this year. Lucent said it recently installed a cell site in Antarctica for CTI Movil as part of its network buildout.
