ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc.’s Cellular Infrastructure Group was awarded two contracts valued at $38.8 million to replace another vendor’s existing cellular Global System for Mobile communications networks and to expand Motorola CIG’s GSM and analog cellular systems in China’s Jilin province.
The contracts, awarded through Eastern Communications Co. Ltd., outline the supply of network equipment to cellular operator Jilin Posts and Telecommunications Administration. These awards are part of a $210 million manufacturing supply contract with China Eastcom, announced in June.
As part of the agreements, Jilin PTA will use Motorola CIG’s M-Cell macrocellular base station equipment to replace the existing GSM network in the suburban areas surrounding the cities of Jilin and Ynaji within Jilin province.
