SAN DIEGO, Calif.-Novatel Wireless Inc. said it started shipping its Sage Wireless IP (Internet Protocol) modem, a self-powered, external wireless modem that provides users a communications device that works with multiple platforms-including desktop, laptop and handheld computers.
Sage is compatible with major operating systems, including Windows 95, Windows NT and Windows CE, and provides wireless access to e-mail, corporate databases and the Internet, said the company. Users can connect Sage to their PC via the serial connection cable and use their existing e-mail and Web programs such as Outlook, Exchange, and Internet Explorer. Included is Novatel Wireless’ OPCENTER software that monitors data usage, wireless connection, modem performance and configuration.
