UPS WORLDWIDE FORMS WIRELESS GROUP

ATLANTA-UPS Worldwide Logistics said it established the Wireless Industry Group to create supply-chain management solutions for cellular equipment manufacturers, retailers and wireless network providers.

The group’s mission is to make it possible for UPS’ wireless customers to extend the life of their existing products, deliver new products faster and shorten repair time, flashing and warranty service.

Carl Noonan, who was named vice president of the WIG, said the group was formed in response to UPS’ growing wireless customer base and because industry growth rates exceeding 35 percent have wireless equipment makers scrambling to meet demand.

UPS Worldwide Logistics, a subsidiary of United Parcel Service of America Inc., is a third-party provider of global supply chain management solutions, including inventory management, warehouse operations, import and export optimization, network design, re-engineering and process mapping and reverse logistics.
