Horizon Personal Communications Inc. launched its personal communications services network in seven basic trading areas in Ohio and West Virginia, under an affiliate agreement with Sprint Spectrum L.P. Horizon, which is an affiliate of The Chilicothe Telephone Co., has a management agreement with Sprint PCS to provide service in certain Ohio and West Virginia markets. The launch was coordinated to coincide with Sprint PCS’ service launch in Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio.
SLP InfoWare Inc. announced the availability of a new release of its Churn/Customer Profiling System-Churn/CPS 3.0. The software has been beta tested by Belgium-based wireless operator Mobistar and Bouygues Telecom, the French DCS 1800 wireless operator, said the company. Churn/CPS 3.0 provides a flexible three-tier architecture and marketing automation.
CellStar Corp. announced it formed a Global Accessories Division to increase its focus on wireless accessories and support for telecom customers worldwide. Jeff Infusino was named vice president of the new division. He previously served as director of Motorola Inc.’s PanAmerica Cellular Accessory Group.
Software developer SignalSoft Corp. opened an office in London to address the European cellular market, announced the company. SignalSoft will offer its wireless location services software to network operators throughout Europe to help them increase subscribers and generate revenue. Robert Blair, formerly of Compaq Computers, will lead the new office as Europe, Middle East and Africa Sales and Marketing Director.
SpectraLink Corp. and OnSite Communications introduced a solution, called MessageLink, that enables SpectraLink handsets to receive text messages. Onsite developed MessageLink specifically for the SpectraLink Wireless Telephone System. It is a personal computer-based client/server software application that can receive messages from text applications and deliver them to the SpectraLink handset’s display.
TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. announced its TQ5M44 low-voltage downconverter mixer is available in support of Motorola Inc.’s new ReFLEX chipset solution. The RF to IF downconverter chip provides the wireless signal frequency conversion function necessary for the solution.
