Moody’s Investors Service Inc. said it assigned a B2 rating to Orbital Sciences Corp.’s $100 million of 5-percent subordinated notes, due 2002.
The company said the ratings reflect risks inherent in the satellite industry and also risks from investments in start-up satellite service providers. Moody’s also cited continuing operating losses from Orbital’s Magellan subsidiary, improving return on assets and Orbital’s strength in small satellite manufacturing and successful launch record as contributing factors to the rating.
