DALLAS-Cellular One celebrated its 15th anniversary Dec. 16. On the same day in 1983, Cellular One initiated wireless service in Washington, D.C.
“Before cellular technology, there could only be a handful of mobile telephone callers at a given time in the largest metropolitan areas. The new technology far exceeded our imaginations and expectations when it took us from a user capacity of a few hundred to millions, literally overnight,” commented Richard J. Lyons, president of Cellular One Group.
