MOTOROLA TO DEVELOP ENCRYPTION CERTIFIED RADIO

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola’s commercial, government and industrial solutions sector
announced the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with the National Security Agency to develop a Type 1
encryption certified digital portable radio, the XTS3500, based on Motorola Astro digital radio products.

“The
XTS3500 Type 1 portable radio is designed to meet the stringent demands of the federal law enforcement community
and national defense users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. We have been in the
process of developing this new radio platform for two years,” said Jim Widick, Motorola corporate vice president
and general manager, radio systems division, U.S. and Canada group.

Motorola said it will team with Harris Corp.
on the project. The new radios will use digital narrowband technology and be compatible with existing Motorola
wideband Type 1 radios equipped with Fascinator and Indictor encryption modules.
