WDF AND WIMC TO JOINTLY DEVELOP E-COMMERCE PROGRAM

WASHINGTON, D.C.,-The Wireless Data Forum announced it is developing an electronic-
commerce program in conjunction with Wireless Internet & Mobile Computing, to be called the Wireless E-Commerce
Initiative.

The initiative will focus on two areas-aiding the wireless industry in using the Internet to sell existing
products and services, and help create new products and services in the e-commerce space, WDF said.

To enact this,
WDF said it is creating a section on its Web site that will list information on wireless e-commerce, as well as
developing alliances with other wireless and computing organizations to further the effort.

“One of our most
important efforts will be to bring together the wireless community with experts in e-commerce from the computer
industry,” said Mark Desautels, managing director of the WDF. Alan Reiter, president of Wireless Internet &
Mobile Computing stressed this need as well.

“When you look at what’s available right now-in terms of
applications of the Internet and the capabilities of wireless networks-there’s simply no doubt that wireless e-commerce
will become a significant part of both the computer and wireless communities,” he said.
