SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc. said it has revised the fourth-quarter order increase for its
cellular products segment to 17 percent from the 13 percent increase reported earlier in the month.
The company
said that compared with fourth quarter 1997, fourth-quarter 1998 orders in the subscriber sector were significantly
higher in the Americas, higher in Europe and higher in Asia. Segment sales and operating profits remained
unchanged.
Total corporate orders for the fourth quarter were 2 percent higher than the previous year, and backlog
at the end of 1998 was down about 6 percent compared with 1997.
