Geoworks Corp. and APiON Ltd. announced they successfully completed interoperability tests of
their products based on the Wireless Application Protocol. The testing process lasted several months and involved
Geoworks’ new Premion Interface+ graphical user interface and APiON’s WAP gateway system to allow Premion-
enabled handsets to send and receive data over any network using WAP technology.
L-3 Communications
announced it filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed public offering
of common stock. The company plans to offer 3.5 million newly issued shares, in addition to which affiliates Lehman
Bros. Inc. and Lockheed Martin Corp. plan to offer 2 million shares and 3.75 million shares, respectively, for a total
offering of 9.25 million shares. Following completion of the offering, Lehman Bros. and Lockheed will own
approximately 26 percent and 9.9 percent, respectively, of L-3 Communications’ common shares outstanding, said L-

Mobex Communications, a national provider of systems integration and specialized mobile radio services,
announced it has teamed with Bechtel Enterprises Inc. to offer utilities new solutions in developing and managing their
telecommunications resources more effectively. Bechtel Enterprises is the project development, financing and
ownership affiliate of Bechtel, an engineering and construction company. The Mobex-Bechtel partnership will provide
utility companies with cost-saving, revenue-generating and asset-management recommendations and programs and a
lease-back program, said Mobex.
Telecom Analysis Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Bowthorpe plc, announced it
signed an agreement to acquire the wireless and satellite communications testing product lines of NoiseCom Inc. for
$19 million. A new facility in northern New Jersey will house the new TAS employees, some of whom will help define
and develop satellite telecommunications test equipment for TAS’ sister company, Global Simulation Systems Inc., said
TAS. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter.
