LOS ANGELES-The CDMA Development Group announced it has posted a report on the Web,
authored by the International Telecommunications Standards User Group, on “Global System for Mobile
communications Intellectual Property Rights and Licensing Issues.”
The ITSUG report indicates IPR is an
issue associated with entrants getting into the GSM market, a view not commonly represented in the current IPR
discussion around third-generation technology, said CDG.
CDG said the report discusses the barrier to market entry
IPR poses for GSM equipment manufacturers, with a detailed analysis of cumulative royalty fees. The Web site is
