PHOENIX-AG Communication Systems, a Lucent Technologies Inc. subsidiary, will offer its
intelligent network-based INgage Wireless Prepaid Services solution on Sun Microsystems Inc.’s scalable Netra
computing platform.
“Carriers with small- to medium-sized subscriber bases can now implement a network-
grade wireless prepaid solution that is far more cost-effective, flexible and reliable than traditional implementations and
point/switch-based implementations,” said Charles Schulz, vice president and general manager of AG’s platform
applications group.
The standards-based service is designed to work on a fault-tolerant Service Control Point or on a
fault-resilient service node that uses Signaling System 7 protocols.
AG’s INgage product line also includes INgage
Service Order Activation. In a separate announcement, AG said it signed a distribution agreement under which its
parent will resell the INgage SOA as part of Lucent’s suite of number portability products for wireless and wireline
intelligent networks.
Number portability allows customers to retain their current telephone numbers when changing
carriers. INgage said its Service Order Activation allows service providers to initiate requests to a Number Portability
Administration Center in order to move, or port, telephone numbers between carriers efficiently and inexpensively.
