Its vision of future wireless telecommunications, which includes the naming of Qualcomm
CDMA Technologies, previously the company’s ASIC Products division, which develops and produces semiconductors
and software.
Next-generation radio-frequency and analog chips:
The Code Division Multiple Access-based
MSM3100, Qualcomm’s sixth-generation single-chip Mobile Station Modem baseband processing solution, of which
the chipset and system software provide a 50-percent reduction in chip size and up to 300 hours standby
time;
Components of the new chipset for Qualcomm’s MSM3100 baseband processing chip include the RFT3100
transmit and RFR3100 receive processors, which offer reduction in power consumption;
The PM1000 power
management chip, which provides battery supervision and charging functions, programmable voltage regulation and
integration of other collateral support functionality for CDMA handset applications.
An agreement with Matsushita
Electronic Components Co. Ltd., “contemplating the formation of an alliance” for the development and
manufacture of new CRM3000 CDMA Radio Modules, said Qualcomm. The CRMs will contain complete radio-
frequency circuitry for CDMA handsets and interface with Qualcomm’s MSM3000 chip.

The release of version 2.0
of the QCTest CDMA Air Interface Tester, a network optimization software package for field test engineers. Installed
on a laptop running current Windows software and connected to a Qualcomm CDMA handset, CAIT 2.0 acts as a
portable wireless testing and analysis tool, to support design and development of CDMA networks.
The PureVoice
VR voice-recognition software for the MSM3000 Mobile Station Modem platform. The software, designed for dual-
mode cellular and personal communications services handset applications, allows manufacturers to add speech
capabilities to CDMA handsets without additional hardware.
The pdQsuite package of Internet applications
designed for use with Qualcomm’s pdQ smart phone and Palm Computing Inc. platform-based devices. The package
includes the pdQmail e-mail program and pdQbrowser micro Web browser.
The new QCell 600 series base
stations, which offer macrocell performance in a microcell package, said Qualcomm. The base stations were designed
with wireless operators’ input and will provide them a clear migration path to third-generation cdma2000 services, said
Qualcomm.
A new range of accessories, including a data connectivity kit, two hands-free car kits, a desktop
charger for the Thin Phone-which can charge three batteries simultaneously-and three new hands-free headsets.
Plans to conduct trials of its High Data Rate solution with US West Wireless L.L.C. HDR delivers high-speed CDMA
wireless Internet access at peak data rates greater than 1.8 megabits per second.
