HELSINKI-Nokia Telecommunications announced the launch of the DX 200 i-series Nokia
Service Routing Register, a new solution that helps Global System for Mobile communications operators simplify
mobile number portability.
The Nokia SRRi uses a number mapping scheme to give GSM subscribers the freedom
to change operators while maintaining the same mobile number.
“As well as providing mobile number
portability for voice traffic, the Nokia SRRi also can route short messages and other non-voice related traffic to
subscribers who have changed networks but not their mobile number,” said Sauli Salo, senior vice president,
mobile switching, Nokia Telecommunications.
