ISLETA PUEBLO, N.M.-After determining traditional telephone landlines would be too
expensive, Excel Communications Corp. and Solectek Corp. suggested the Native American community of Isleta, N.M,
use a wireless solution to connect the 15 business offices on the pueblo, said the companies.
Two 100-foot towers
will link the services throughout the area-about 211,000 acres-which include the police, emergency medical services,
the hospital, casino and country store, among others.
ECC and Solectek said accounting information will flow to the
centralized treasurer’s office to better manage the pueblo’s business activities, and pueblo members also will have
Internet and e-mail access.
